Oil firm Total in agency shootout

French oil company Total is reviewing its UK corporate and consumer support, putting five-year incumbent August. One Communications on alert.

Total, the world's 12th-biggest company by revenue, is in the midst of an agency pitch process, having sent out a ‘request for information' in early October.

‘Following procurement best practice, Total formally retenders and reviews all services on a regular basis, including our PR service,' the company said in a statement to PRWeek.

The appointed agency will report to corporate comms manager Kate Munro.

August. One said it was unable to comment.

Total made the headlines late last year when the Buncefield, Hertfordshire, fuel depot - which it part owns with Texaco - exploded, causing the UK's largest peacetime fire.

Last month, CEO-elect Christophe de Margerie was revealed to be under investigation by French authorities over the scandal-hit UN Oil-for-Food programme in Iraq.
