Babcock to make fresh agency hire

Support services firm Babcock is in talks over the appointment of a PA consultancy, having recruited John Gardner to take the new role of head of government relations.

Gardner was director of comms at the Chemical Industries Association until March (PRWeek, 31 March).

He said Babcock wanted to boost its ‘dealings with the totality of UK government'. Its traditional strength has been providing the MoD with training and maintaining RAF aircraft.

But its Scotland subsidiary First Engineering is a supplier to Network Rail, and it is moving into the nuclear and airport sectors.
