Carr takes responsibility for UK and international programmes for clients such as Sanofi-Aventis, Eli Lilly, Novartis Consumer Health and Philips Medical Systems. He is also charged with bringing in new business.
Carr was previously joint managing director of Richmond-upon-Thames-based Solaris, which he left in the summer (PRWeek, 22 June).
MS&L healthcare has had a turbulent past few months: director and head of international healthcare Carolyn Brown left in September after just three months, along with associate director Claire Eldred (now at Edelman).
Just months earlier, long-serving health director Sally Bradford left (now at Bray Leino), while Annabel Fiddian-Green, head of its ‘advocacy centre of excellence', joined Red Door Communications.
Last year, MS&L had 26 London health staff (PRWeek, 8 April 2005). Carr said he was now recruiting for various roles, while Jennifer Garratt remains UK health director and Guy Nasse remains director of medical affairs.
Before Solaris, Carr worked for Ethical Strategies. Prior to that he was EV-P managing director Europe for Grey Healthcare Group. He has also spent three years as UK CEO of Fujisawa, and 14 years in various sales and marketing roles at Boehringer Ingelheim.
