Meanwhile, Kate Nicholas, ex-PRWeek associate publisher - now comms supremo at WorldVision - was dishing out her new business cards with relish.
She couldn't resist popping round to Diary's table to have a friendly dig, seeking a humble apology for failing last week to call her organisation for a quote on Madonna's adoption of a child in Malawi.
But hearing of her characteristically hectic schedule three weeks into her new job we couldn't help but wonder if she'd have had time to pick up the phone anyway.
Finally, Diary was entertained to notice that Jonathan Chandler, the former Coca-Cola European comms chief, has clearly moved on from drinking sugary beverages.
Now working for APCO, Chandler was waxing lyrical about Dasani - 'I've never seen the management so scared' - describing his time at the carbonated drinks giant as a 'maverick' six years, when he 'ripped up the rule book'.
Diary reckons Chandler is lucky he didn't rip his trousers while stumbling down the stairs to the bar.
The party was called to a halt at around 2am, with Threepipe (New Consultancy of the Year, pictured) and Taylor Herring PR (Specialist Consultancy of the Year) among those spotted keeping their gongs in a tight embrace. Roll on next year.
