McCafferty will start next month as director of corporate comms Europe for the social networking portal and Fox Interactive Media - the News Corporation division responsible for the site.
He will report to MySpace/FIM European MD David Fischer and LA-based V-P of comms and PA Jeff Berman.
McCafferty expects to build a European comms team, hiring in countries such as France and Germany. He described MySpace as a ‘fascinating brand and business'.
Prior to MSN, which is recruiting for a replacement. McCafferty was a divisional director at The Red Consultancy. Before that, he worked at Weber Shandwick.
MySpace opened a European office in London in January.
