MySpace snares MSN's McCafferty

MSN UK head of public ­relations and corporate affairs Chris McCafferty has quit to become European PR chief for MySpace.

McCafferty will start next month as director of corporate comms Europe for the social networking portal and Fox Interactive Media - the News Corporation division responsible for the site.

He will report to MySpace/FIM European MD David Fischer and LA-based V-P of comms and PA Jeff Berman.

McCafferty expects to build a European comms team, hiring in countries such as France and Germany. He described MySpace as a ‘fascinating brand and business'.

Prior to MSN, which is ­recruiting for a replacement. McCafferty was a divisional director at The Red Consultancy. Before that, he worked at Weber Shandwick.

MySpace opened a European office in London in ­January.
