Museums council fills top position

The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council has confirmed Australian-born Sharene Chatfield as its head of comms.

The move follows an  MLA comms restructure, which Chatfield said was designed to ‘improve the support we provide to our regional arms'.

Under the new structure, Chatfield reports to interim director of marketing and comms Deborah Oliver.

Until recently the most senior PRO was director of external relations Louise de Winter, now director at the National Campaign for the Arts. A permanent director of marketing and comms is being recruited.

A former PR manager for the City of Perth, Chatfield takes up the role shortly after having relocated to the UK for family reasons, she told PRWeek.

The previous head of communications, Jo O'Driscoll, was at the MLA for five years, including a year's secondment to The Gambling Commission. She is now head of comms and marketing at The Judicial Appointments Commission.
