Lord Bell, 65, shows no will to retire yet

Did Diary this week witness a pension-book plopping through Chime's letterbox?

We were keen to double-check - with some impertinence, admittedly - because PR industry legend Lord Bell this week chalked up his 65th birthday.

Apparently not a big fan of birthdays, the Chime chairman tells us he is treating his birthday like any other and has no retirement plans quite yet.

We can, however, exclusively reveal that Bell planned to spend his special day (this Wednesday) playing a spot of golf with friend Charles Henry Gordon-Lennox, better known as Lord March, manager of the Goodwood estate.

Bell avoided promising fireworks, confessing that he is 'crap' at the game and hasn't swung a club in anger for two years.

Diary at least imagines the 19th hole will be an especially jolly place after this particular round. Many happy returns.
