Wild Card offices go up in smoke

London food-and-lifestyle agency Wild Card had to turn its hand to crisis management last week when its Oxford Street office caught fire.

MD Kate Wild said the fire brigade was on the scene in under five minutes and, after firemen had bundled gawping shoppers and tourists out of the range of falling glass, put out the flames.

Half of the agency's 1,700 sq ft open-plan office was burnt out, while the rest escaped with heat and smoke damage.

The agency has temporarily relocated to nearby Portland Street and the office kit that was salvaged is now being cleaned.

'The phones and networks should all be diverted by the end of the week, but for now it's back to the old days of just using a phone and a notepad,' Wild says, adding that an electrical fault is believed the most likely cause.
