Rugby body RFU revamps comms

The Rugby Football Union is on the hunt for a corporate comms manager as the body's long-serving comms director Richard Prescott takes a more hands-on media-handling role.

Prescott is to focus more on promoting Elite Rugby - the new joint venture with Premier Rugby to manage the game's top echelons.

He will also spend more time with the England team ahead of the Rugby World Cup in France next year. Prescott, who heads a team of ten, said the corporate comms job would entail working with other sports bodies to highlight to government the health benefits of sport.

The new PRO ‘will maintain regular contact with MPs through the all-party rugby group and establish relationships in Brussels'.
