Baxter exits C&W for lead S-P product role

Schering-Plough has created the role of product comms manager UK & Ireland and appointed Cohn & Wolfe senior account manager Jim Baxter to the role.

The post sees Baxter overseeing comms across a range of S-P's products, including its allergy (Nasonex), cancer (Temodal), virology and drug-dependency (ViraferonPeg and Subutex) portfolios.

He has already started work at S-P and is based in Welwyn Garden City, reporting to UK & Ireland communications manager Caroline Rattray.

Rattray joined S-P - whose global HQ is in the US - early last year from the British Society of Rheumatology (PRWeek, 28 January 2005) and reports to UK & Ireland director of communications and PA Alan Kane.

The trio are the only dedicated comms staff employed by S-P in the UK - prior to Kane's appointment two years ago (PRWeek, 6 August 2004) S-P did not have a dedicated comms function for the UK and Ireland.

Baxter was at C&W for four years, working for clients including AstraZeneca, Mundipharma and the European Society of Cardiology. He joined in 2002 as an account executive.

C&W said Baxter had been replaced by Laura Bertossi.

She has previously worked at C&W's offices in Milan and New York, plus Ketchum, and is now working for clients including medical-device firm Medtronic.
