AxiCom enters Madrid amid Spanish tech boom

LONDON/MADRID: AxiCom has opened an office in Madrid to take advantage of Spain's fastgrowing IT sector.

The outpost is the London-based tech specialist's seventh wholly owned office. The others are in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Benelux (Amsterdam) and the Nordics (Stockholm and Sweden).

Eduardo Fuentes has been brought in from Madrid-based agency 01 Consulting to head the operation.

Fuentes has spent eight years in tech PR, advising clients including Sun Microsystems, BT and the Computer Sciences Corporation. ‘The Spanish IT sector grew by ten per cent in 2005 and its visibility with international consumer and B2B tech businesses is increasing all the time,' said AxiCom MD Julian Tanner.

The Madrid office has opened with three full-time staff including Fuentes, and is recruiting for a further two employees.

The team will initially advise five companies that are already international clients of AxiCom, including software firm Red Hat.
