Hit or miss... Pub guide taps 80s booze nostalgia

Brits have long been fond of cheap booze and nostalgia, something taken full advantage of by Leicestershire's Claire Bowles Publicity for the launch of the 2007 Good Pub Guide. Bowles invited the 66 pubs in the guide since its launch 25 years ago to adopt 1982 prices for a day (an average 62p a pint). Events, with pub staff dressed up in 1980s clothes and offering retro meals such as chicken-in-a-basket, will continue to ensure national tabloids, plus local and regional press, lap up the story.
