CIPR delegates get council PRO blues

Ex-Lincolnshire Council PR man Steve Jackson related the downsides of his former job in a novel way at last week's CIPR conference.

Armed with what can only be described as a cross between a mandolin and a guitar, Jackson sang about councils' use of private sector comms consultancies.

Lyrics included: 'I woke up this morning, our council is front-page news; who leaked the story, are there any clues?; well, I've got the communication blues.' The ditty continued: 'When I arrived at work this morning, a consultant was looking at me; I don't feel valued, against the wind I'm beginning to pee; I've opted for redundancy, and a pension to set me free.'
