MasterCard hires former AEA comms boss

BRUSSELS: MasterCard has hired the former Association of European Airlines general manager comms Paul Vandermoere for a newly created Europe head of comms job.

Based in Brussels, Vandermoere reports to MasterCard Europe president Javier Perez and New York-based MasterCard Worldwide group executive of comms Harvey Greisman.

He joins MasterCard as the EC investigates whether it has broken EU anti-trust rules - allegedly fixing the minimum prices retailers must pay to take its cards - which MasterCard denies.

Vandermoere oversees a team of four, including two V-Ps. The company retains Weber Shandwick for agency support.

Prior to his AEA role, Vandermoere held various comms positions for German airline Lufthansa.
