Museum of moving image on the cards

Akram Miknas, the chairman of Promoseven Holdings, is to launch a touring museum dedicated to the moving image.

The museum, which will document the history of film-making before the advent of electricity, will launch in 2008 to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Promoseven's launch.

It is expected to open first in Beirut or Dubai, before moving around the region. Miknas is currently in talks with museum owners about providing the 1000sq metres of space required for the exhibition.

"I have been collecting this for about 25 years. I have everything to do with the image and how man moved the image prior to electricity," he said.

The artifacts are in storage at his home in Bahrain, where they are being indexed and prepared for display.

He added: "It will come to Dubai for say six months then it will go to Bahrain, Saudi - if they allow us."
