Batey chosen to handle The Pearl Qatar brief

The multi-billion dollar Pearl Qatar project has signed up Batey to handle its marketing and advertising.

The offshore island development - which will create 32kms of new coastline and provide a home to 42,000 residents - has hired the Singapore-based agency to promote the project globally.

A global media campaign is set to launch soon.

Officials at The Pearl Qatar said they saw a number of companies that were interested in spearheading the campaign. But Abdulrahim Al-Ibrahim, general manager of marketing at The Pearl Qatar, said he was impressed by Batey's "reputation and experience". "We were extremely pleased with their presentation and vision," he said.

"They brought a set of fresh and innovative concepts and ideas which is something a dynamic project like The Pearl Qatar is looking for."

Batey will handle all of The Pearl Qatar's advertising and marketing needs, including the creation of television advertising spots and packaging The Pearl Qatar brand to global markets.

Rick Scott-Blackhall, chairman of Batey, said: "A grand and audacious vision is of no lasting significance unless, and until, it becomes a reality.

"We are very proud and honoured to have been awarded this contract. The Pearl Qatar is a beautiful development and with so many features and selling points, it will certainly be the most glamorous address in the Middle East."

The Pearl Qatar is owned by its developer, United Development Company. It is Qatar's first international real estate venture and one of the largest developments in the country.
