AstraZeneca's Barnett set to join Ketchum

Ketchum has poached AstraZeneca UK brand comms manager Cat Barnett.

Barnett will join in mid-October as associate director from AZ, where she promotes breast-cancer drugs Arimidex and Faslodex.

In her two years in the Luton-based role, Barnett also promoted AZ's oncology interests at a corporate level and managed AZ's patient-group relationships in breast cancer.

Prior to AZ, Barnett worked at Ogilvy PR Worldwide for more than four years. She previously worked in various communications roles at the Royal College of Nursing.

Other recent Ketchum hires at associate director level include Ali Wright, who started in July. She is also ex-AstraZeneca (PRWeek, 8 June).

AZ comms leader David Prager said he was ‘sorry to lose' Barnett, but added that he had already shortlisted candidates for her role.

He said he was close to filling a similar role for AZ's respiratory drug Symbicort, for which he has been recruiting for more than a year (PRWeek, 5 Aug 2005).
