Cancer Research head of PR quits

Cancer Research UK head of PR Lee Hobbs is to leave after 18 months at the charity.

Director of press and PR Carolan Davidge confirmed Hobbs would be leaving in November and the hunt was on to find a successor.

Hobbs joined Cancer Research from documentary channel Discovery Channel UK (PRWeek, 8 April 2005). His appointment was part of a general expansion of the charity's press team.

He was responsible for beefing up marketing and fundraising PR.

The charity hired Frank PR as its first retained agency earlier this year, and the agency reports to Hobbs. Earlier this year he oversaw Frank's work on flagship fun run Race for Life.

Hobbs is currently on holiday and PRWeek was unable to contact him before going to press.
