NYC agency wins VisitScotland job

VisitScotland has awarded its Northern American comms brief to New York-based Laura Davidson PR.

American and Canadian tourists are of major significance to Scotland - last year more than  340,000 people visited Scotland from the two countries.

Laura Davidson will chiefly handle PR around Tartan Week. ‘New York City has celebrated Tartan Day since 1999 and, every year, the amount of activities has increased so it is now referred to as Tartan Week,' said  a spokesperson.

Ancestral tourism in the US is particularly important for VisitScotland, with 14 million Americans claiming to be Scottish descendants. The promotional body promotes ‘clan tours'.

Leading the account is CEO Laura Davidson, supported by account director Jenn Sparrow.
