As my surname suggests, I have a tendency to lean towards Italian cuisine, and this particular restaurant is virtually on our office doorstep.
Rumoured to be one of Wayne Rooney's favourite eating places, Felicini has a modern interior and its glass front provides plenty of light. I often have lunch meetings here because of its relaxed and casual atmosphere.
The staff are attentive, which helps contribute to a pleasant dining experience. However, the restaurant can be a bit quiet during lunchtime, and with a seating capacity of 150, this can sometimes make the venue seem a bit empty. It is normally extremely busy in the evening, though, and is a good place to dine if your guests are avid celebrity spotters (mainly footballers, their wives and Coronation Street stars). The main restaurant is on the ground floor but there is also an upstairs, which is ideal for private parties.
Felicini offers unpretentious food - from duck pizza to spaghetti with meatballs. However, there is less choice for vegetarians. The portions are large, so it is rare to have enough room for dessert, which is a shame because the Italian specialities look superb. Having said that, there's nothing quite like a proper espresso to wake you up at the end of the meal.
