ExCel to host Tour de France media

Transport for London is to use the ExCel centre in Docklands as the base for media covering the English leg of the Tour de France from 4-7 July next year.

TfL will provide a 500-seat press centre, two conference rooms seating 650 people, a Tour de France partner exhibition zone, and temporary offices for race officials.

There will be an additional facility at the Stage One finish in Canterbury, incorporating a 500-seat press centre.

TfL will oversee media relations surrounding the opening ceremony of the Tour de France in July 2007, but has brought in event management company Innovision for support.

A crash during last week's final stage of the Tour of Britain has prompted concerns about London's ability to host parts of the 2007 Tour de France.
