Letter - ...maybe Doctor Who could again inspire

I read with a smile your leader recommending a charismatic figurehead to entice school pupils to science.

Twenty-five years ago my husband struggled through A-level physics, followed by a degree in physics and management sciences. His interest and desire to study the subject, as well as a continuing fascination with science overall, had been stimulated as a young boy watching Doctor Who.

With the return of two series already, maybe we have found our new spur? Perhaps we shall see another generation of youngsters finally following their curiosity through to greater things.
