AS Biss lands Eversheds and sets up corporate arm

International law firm Eversheds has appointed AS Biss & Co to manage its public affairs.

Eversheds senior marketing manager Imogen Lee said the consultancy would also ‘advise on corporate and stakeholder relationship development'. AS Biss founder Adele Biss will service this part of the brief through a newly launched corporate and stakeholder division called Advocacy.

Advocacy will function as a separate business within Engine, the marcoms group of which AS Biss became part last autumn (PRWeek, 28 October 2005).

The group encompasses seven other firms, including consumer outfit Slice PR and advertising agency WCRS.

AS Biss acquired rival lobbying consultancy Advocacy in April 2000 and has retained the name. On the brand's redeployment, Biss said: ‘Advocacy will help connect all the different parts of the boardroom corridor into a coherent strategy.'

Eversheds previously retained Mark Hatcher, who is joining The Bar Council.

Campaigning group Sea and Water has enlisted AS Biss ­deputy MD Gavin Devine to serve as a director.

The group lobbies government and businesses to shift freight from roads to water - using coastal and inland shipping - to help combat climate change.

Devine continues in his full-time role at AS Biss.
