Pegasus nets hearing-aid brief

Hearing-aid company David Ormerod Hearing Centres (DOHC) has brought in its first retained agency to generate greater brand awareness.

DOHC has appointed Pegasus Public Relations to handle a ‘six-figure' consumer campaign.

The company operates from more than 140 sites across the UK - more than 85 are located in Boots outlets, while 20 are in NHS audio­logy departments. It offers both products and aftercare service and support.

Pegasus will undertake media relations and ‘in-store activities' as the company seeks to differentiate itself from high-street rivals that offer similar services, such as Specsavers.

Pegasus was appointed after a non-competitive pitch by the company's MD Julie Booth. She joined DOHC 18 months ago from Siemens Hearing Instruments - where she worked with Pegasus, which Siemens continues to use. Siemens hired the agency in 2004.

Pegasus account director Simon Hackett is leading the DOHC account. He joined Pegasus in July from Spink Consumer Relations after just over two years with the agency. He has also formerly worked at Edelman.

DOHC was founded in 1961 and is based in North Wales.
