'Caroline joined us at the end of 1998 on a work experience placement. Penrose was a new agency and not ready to take on another staff member, so when another agency offered Caroline a permanent job we reluctantly let her go.
'But her absence was so noticeable that I relented and offered her a permanent job.
'She never ceased to amaze us in her five years at Penrose. She seemed happy only when juggling 15 balls in the air. We made her an account director (one of the youngest ever) and she was runner-up for PRWeek's Young PR Communicator of the Year award.
'In 2003, she became PR manager for Europe, Asia and South Africa at SEI Investments, and in months was promoted to global marketing chief.'
Caroline Deutsch is now director of marketing at SEI Investments.
