Pleon in health & beauty spin-off

Pleon is opening a health and beauty division as it looks to expand beyond its UK tech heritage.

It has hired Manning Selvage & Lee associate director Susan Smith to lead the division from next week.

She has worked for 13 years in the consumer, fashion and beauty PR sector and will now aid Pleon's Gillette account in Europe. Pleon does not hold the UK account.

Smith, who reports to UK CEO Geoff Beattie, joins a year after ex-Red Consultancy divisional director Eva Keogan arrived to spearhead Pleon's UK consumer practice (PRWeek, 10 June 2005).

Pleon has also hired consumer account manager Anna Terrell, who left August.One Communications in July.
