Flaks beat Hacks in cricket contest

England's cricket team may have scored a series-clinching test-match victory over Pakistan in Yorkshire this week, but Diary was more interested in Tuesday's Hacks vs Flaks charity match in London.

Diary is happy to report that Financial Dynamics' James Melville-Ross's team of financial PROs crushed their journalistic opponents. Melville-Ross tells Diary, fresh from the crease: 'We were rocking at 26 for 3 when Charlie [Jack, of Abchurch] strode in to bat,' he says. 'But his man-of-the-match winning 67 steadied us and we went on to make 231.'

The Hacks managed just 171 all out, with only the FT's James Mawson able to hold his own against the Flaks' bowling. The event raised £41,000 for four charities.
