B-M snares Athena's Gray as director quits

Burson-Marsteller's UK healthcare arm has been hit by the resignation of Monica Shuman, one of three directors.

But B-M has moved quickly to fill the hole, poaching Athena Medical PR's long-serving Anna Gray to take up a director role on 21 August.

Gray was an associate director at Athena, which she joined in July 1999. Explaining her move, she said she wanted to ‘join a multinational agency with experience across different sectors to help broaden my own skill base'.

She said she was ‘privileged to have been integral to Athena's success over the past seven years.'

Also joining B-M, as an associate, is Anthonia Aboyeji. She has previously worked as an account exec at Manning Selvage & Lee.

Shuman, who PRWeek was unable to reach for comment, left last week and is believed to be planning to freelance. She joined B-M around three years ago and has formerly worked for agencies including Ketchum and the former Shire Hall.

B-M's other health directors, reporting to joint health MDs Richard Rockliffe and Amie Malkin, are recently arrived Rachel Terry (PRWeek, 23 June) and Ellen Sarewitz.

B-M UK healthcare also recently lost director Sam Barnes to Weber Shandwick (PRWeek, 14 July).
