The Whitehouse Consultancy has taken on former Labour Party official Phil Royal as second-in-command to founder and MD Chris Whitehouse.
He joins Whitehouse on 22 August.
Royal joins from public affairs agency Butler Kelly (formerly Grandfield Public Affairs), where he was a senior consultant for nine years. Before that, Royal spent six years working with the Labour Party, including acting as a candidate liaison officer during the 1997 general election.
Whitehouse said Royal was not a direct replacement for Helen Munro, who left the agency last month to lead Munro & Forster Communications' political and stakeholder counsel practice (PRWeek, 20 July). ‘Phil has been hired specifically to bring decades of experience of political life to a very young team,' he explained.
Whitehouse's clients include Holland & Barrett and Slimming World.
