Thanet kicks off anti-litter drive

Thanet Council has launched a campaign in three of its seaside resorts to encourage people not to drop litter.

The ‘Thanet is Beautiful' drive is targeting the seaside towns of Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate in Kent, and aims to show residents and visitors how much there is to be proud of in Thanet.

"It follows feedback from residents who want the council's support in encouraging a cleaner, greener and safer Thanet," said a spokesman.

The campaign, which comes into force in September, also warns people of the penalties if they are caught dropping litter. Posters have been put up in bus shelters, local shops and businesses, and on seafront lamppost banners.

The Visitor Information Centres in Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate are also selling posters and postcards of the images used.
