Redleaf loses Unite finance brief to FD

Student accommodation firm Unite Group has ended six years with Redleaf and handed its corporate and financial account to Financial Dynamics after a competitive pitch.

Unite announced in March that it would replace CEO Nicholas Porter, who is stepping down at the end of the year, with chief financial officer Mark Allan. FD will report to head of PR Amanda Williams, who was unavailable for comment.

It is understood that moves to review its financial PR account took place soon after the announcement of Porter's exit.

Unite was set up 15 years ago and provides accommodation to 31,000 students in 30 towns and cities, often in redeveloped former office blocks.

In 2000, the firm listed, opening regional offices in London, Salford and Edinburgh, and a manufacturing unit.

Ben Brewerton has joined FD as senior vice-president in its London office. Brewerton joins from College Hill, where he was a partner managing its oil and gas team. He will work in FD's life sciences division.

Prior to College Hill, Brewerton spent 13 years at Brunswick.
