Connectpoint takes HR to new heights

Manchester-based agency Connectpoint is nothing if not honest about trying to poach staff from neighbouring ad agency Cheetham Bell JWT. No need for surreptitious meetings in quiet bars or a discreet approach via a headhunter. The agency instead deployed creative director Simon Broadbent's head for heights, sending him scrambling up to its roof bearing a sign inviting Cheetham employees to 'Jump'.

The stunt attracted a crowd, one of whom unfortunately misread the situation and called the police, saying there was a man threatening to commit suicide.

Three police vans arrived at the scene full of officers, who took some persuading to see the lighter side.

Staggeringly (and rather unbelievably), MD Nigel Sarbutts claims that by the time everyone had dispersed, the agency had received two CVs from Cheetham staff. He says he has yet to decide if they'll get an interview.
