The news follows the completion this Monday of its merger with Alliance UniChem, and comes amid uncertainty over the roles other top PROs will take up in the new Alliance Boots.
The future role of Alliance UniChem's top PR professional, director of corporate comms for the UK and Europe Yves Romestan, remains 'under discussion', the company confirmed.
Mayled would only say that she is leaving at the end of September because she does not want to relocate from Boots' base in Nottingham to Alliance Boots's new HQ in London. It is not known if she has a new job lined up.
Former Alliance Uni-Chem investor relations director Gerald Gradwell is to head the merged firm's new investor relations function. His Boots counterpart, Chris Laud, will work alongside him until 2007, then take a 'different role'.
Most of Boots' 32-strong comms department will continue to work in Nottingham, according to Boots head of financial media relations Donal McCabe, who ruled out redundancies. Corporate functions such as CSR will "have more of a London base", he said.
McCabe said agency arrangements were also yet to be finalised: those affected include Finsbury (Boots' financial adviser), Gavin Anderson (UniChem's financial adviser), and GCI UK (UniChem's trade agency).
