Peregrine nets new partner

Roddi Vaughan-Thomas has joined City PR agency Peregrine Communications from asset management firm Keydata Investment Services.

He joins the City PR agency in a partner role from Keydata, where he had worked as head of group comms since 2000. Keydata is a Peregrine client.

Vaughan-Thomas joins three-year-old Peregrine as one of four partners, working alongside partner and founder, and former Hill & Knowlton financial managing director, Anthony Payne.

"Having worked on the inside and staged a number of pitches, I know what a company is looking for in an agency," said Vaughan-Thomas. He explained: "These days, companies do not want PowerPoint presentations, what they want are dynamic discussions."

Prior to Keydata, Vaughan-Thomas had held senior positions at both Quill Communications and Citigate Dewe Rogerson. Vaughan-Thomas said the majority of Peregrine's new-business wins come from recommendations.

"Increasingly, financial companies are asking for PR help, as they see the benefits of the service for their peers," said Vaughan-Thomas. "It results in an increase in companies coming to us through referrals."

As to the hire of Vaughan-Thomas, Payne said: "There is a scramble for the most experienced and talented brains in the business. I am very excited that we have landed Roddi."

Vaughan-Thomas continues to fulfil his old role from his Peregrine base.

Keydata said it would not seek a replacement.
