Maynard rejoins Harvard

Ben Maynard, joint head of the tech division at Band & Brown, is leaving at the end of this month after less than six months with the agency.

He is to rejoin tech agency Harvard, where he worked from 1992 until 2003. Maynard joined B&B in February and has been running its tech division alongside Valerie Weisenreder.

The duo manage a team of around 20 people, working with clients such as Sony Ericsson, BT, Cisco Systems and software provider Macromedia. Maynard will leave B&B on 28 July and start at Harvard on 31 July.

He was previously an associate director at Chime-owned Harvard, where he worked for more than a decade before taking an in-house role at psychometric-testing company SHL as head of corporate comms.

B&B chairman Nick Band said he had no immediate plans to replace Maynard, given that he has been at the company for a relatively short time.

‘Valerie will go back to heading up the tech division by herself, which she was doing prior to Ben coming on board,' he told PRWeek.

Harvard MD Simon Jones said Maynard had been hired to spearhead new-business pitches.

Jones himself will shortly take up a central strategic post at the Bell Pottinger Group (PRWeek, 31 March). He is being replaced as Harvard MD in September by Chris Cartwright, who will join from Brands2Life after a period of gardening leave (PRWeek, 7 July).

‘This is the second new board-director appointment for Harvard this month,' said Jones. ‘We are beefing up our tech credentials to grow our reputation as the specialist in this area within the Bell Pottinger Group, and, of course, we want to bring on board plenty of new business.'

Harvard's clients include Vodafone, Sony PlayStation and Fujitsu Services.

The agency has 30 UK staff.
