Youth trust nets Holmes backing

Dame Kelly Holmes is spearheading a campaign to urge young people to partake in physical activity. The Youth Sports Trust has teamed up with BSkyB and Norwich Union to launch 'Living for Sport'. It wants to curb the number of 11 to 16-year-olds dropping out of school.

Handling the drive is Van Communications. ‘This campaign seeks to re-engage youngsters with education by motivating them,' said  co-founder Matt de Leon.

The campaign will target children, parents and teachers via a series of events and Holmes's tour of secondary schools.

‘Teachers can nominate pupils to take placements to learn a wide range of sporting and physical activity, such as martial arts and street dance,' said de Leon.

Van is targeting social affairs correspondents with research, to be released next week, based on the relevance of sport to children during the summer holidays.
