Ex-GCI boss Smith unveils agency Minerva

Former GCI Healthcare UK MD Rhonda Smith has set up her own agency - Minerva PR & Communications - working for a brace of clients that she formerly represented at GCI

Smith is working for Shire Pharmaceuticals on its dementia drug Reminyl, as well as the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS).

It is a crucial time for Alzheimer's drugs, with a definitive statement expected from NICE shortly as to how dementia treatments should be used. For the RCS, Smith is handling comms surrounding its ‘Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Project'. She is also working for the British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (Bapen), with which she has had a personal relationship for around five years.

Smith left GCI earlier this year after four years (PRWeek, 10 March). Prior to GCI she ran her own agency called RS Associates. Hampshire-based Minerva aims to specialise in issues management and ‘advocacy' health-related briefs, rather than regular product comms.
