Virgin's Tamms in move to BBC role

Virgin Atlantic is hunting a manager for competition and regulatory affairs as a result of Vanessa Tamms’ exit to the BBC.

Tamms held the role, which reports to the airline’s director of external affairs and route development Barry Humphries, for five and a half years.

During her time at Virgin Atlantic, Tamms handled a raft of issues such as environmental policy on emissions trading and the Civil Aviation Authority’s review of price caps at London airports.

She joined the BBC last week in a newly created senior policy adviser role within the broadcaster’s 25-strong strategy group. The post involves helping to manage the full range of regulatory matters affecting the BBC.

Mihir Warty, head of strategy within the BBC’s strategic projects team, is to join Sport England in August as director of policy and performance (PRWeek, 16 June).
