Amicus's advice on workers' rights to view World Cup games (via its website and Georgina Hirsch's column in the Daily Mirror) infuriated business and the media. Hirsch wrote: 'It is difficult to prove someone is not really sick.' Amicus said it actually wanted to discourage sickies, but claimed hits to its website (and membership requests) have soared. The Indie insisted 'good bosses don't deserve World Cup skivers', while the Daily Express ran with: 'Row over union "sickie" tips to fans.'
