Starfish promotes New Zealand as ideal ad location

New Zealand’s economic development agency is targeting journalists at advertising jamboree Cannes Lions, as it looks to promote the country as a world-class location for shooting ads.

NZ Trade and Enterprise, using London agency Starfish Communications, will capitalise on the fact that hundreds of journalists have descended on the south of France this week to attend the ad expo. New Zealand was used as a dramatic backdrop for films such as Lord of The Rings, King Kong and Narnia.

Press conferences will highlight the variety of conditions and scenery in New Zealand, and the availability of cutting-edge visual effects technology, post-production facilities and qualified technicians.

Past advertising success stories – such as a Mitsubishi ad shot in November 2005, and a Marmite ad that won last year’s Bronze Film Lion award – will be used as case studies.
