Winterton joins TCG in corporate affairs position

The Communication Group has snapped up the British Retail Consortium’s former director of public affairs Sarah Winterton to boost the agency’s political nous.

She joined TCG this week in the position of associate director within the corporate affairs team.

Winterton oversees a team of eight and reports to TCG head of corporate affairs Emma Johnson.

She said that her responsibilities included driving forward the agency’s destination practice, whose clients include the government of Canada and the Welsh Assembly, and ‘developing its overall client portfolio’.

Winterton is a former senior account manager at Westminster Strategy. She quit the BRC last August after 18 months and has since been freelancing for Good Relations Political.

She is the daughter of Conservative MPs Nicholas and Ann Winterton, the husband and wife parliamentarians who hold the Cheshire seats of Macclesfield and Congleton respectively.
