Israel UK tourism brief for Halpern

The Israeli Government Tourist Office was this week on the verge of signing up Halpern as its first UK PR agency.

The creation of the account, worth £120,000, reflects an upswing in international visitors the country is attracting.

‘We are anticipating three million international tourists this year, which brings us back to the levels we had in 2000 before the intifada,’ said UK PR manager Michelle Cohen.

Tourists made nervous by stories of terrorist attacks since the Palestinian uprising have instead headed for southern European countries, North Africa or Middle-Eastern destinations such as Dubai. But more than 160,000 Britons visited the country last year – a rise of eight per cent.
