Hampson moves from M to Merlin

M: Communications senior consultant Tom Hampson is to join Merlin next month in a director role.

Hampson will focus on hedge funds, private equities and the defence and aerospace sectors in his new role.

‘We’ve been looking to bring in a director for some time and know Tom very well through senior financial media contacts,’ said Merlin CEO Paul Downes. ‘His experience is very relevant to Merlin’s work.’

Hampson was formerly head of communications at eVentures (a joint venture between News Corporation and Softbank). Between 1997 and 1999, he held a senior consultant role at Finsbury, after working as an adviser to Geoff Hoon in the run-up to the 1997 general election.

Merlin has also promoted a number of staff internally, with associate director Lachlan Johnston taking a director role. Consultant Maria Suleymanova has been promoted to associate director, while research executive Clemens Rechenberg has become a consultant.

Hampson’s accounts will be decided upon his arrival at Merlin.
