Talksport turns to Propeller

Talksport, the UK’s only national commercial sports radio station, is using Propeller Communications to promote its World Cup coverage in the media.

Talksport is the only station of its kind with licensed broadcasting rights for the tournament, and is heavily promoting its commentary team – Rodney Marsh, Alvin Martin and Andy Townsend.

The station also claims to be the only digital  broadcaster of all 64 matches.

Talksport gained notoriety recently for broadcasting coverage of Premiership matches to which it did not have rights – its commentators watched games on TV, with sound engineers adding crowd noises.

The BBC, which did have exclusive rights, objected and took Talksport to court, resulting in the station having to announce its broadcast location before its match programmes.

Propeller will work alongside Talksport managing director Scott Taunton. Agency client services director Neil Beston said: ‘Following the arrival of Scott last summer, Talksport has shed its old image.’
