The consumer specialist will work on this July’s rollout of the accessory, branded Mobcharger, following a competitive pitch staged by Cardiff-based distributor KMS Components.
The campaign will make the most of its summer-time launch by targeting festival-goers, campers and those planning a holiday.
Four devices will be compatible with Sony Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola and Samsung handsets. The chargers – slightly bigger than a credit card – give users 90 minutes of talk time, and can be disposed of after use.
The devices will be available from retailers including One Stop, Asda and WH Smith for £4.99.
3 Monkeys associate director Katy Evans heads the account, reporting to KMS vice-president of sales and marketing Jeff Daley.
The agency will target national newspapers, magazines and gadget websites and press, and will conduct sampling campaigns.
The product will also be positioned as a ‘brand-able’ giveaway for firms to take to trade fairs or potential clients’ offices, or for universities to use as a tool to woo potential students.
