The helm of the east London authority’s PR function has suffered from revolving-door syndrome in recent years.
Donald Neame, Duncan Stroud, Kate Pierce and Siobhan Crozier have all held the job on either an interim or permanent basis over the past four years.
The position is currently held by interim head of communications Julia Jones, who joined at the beginning of this year. She reports to assistant chief executive Sara Williams.
The postholder has responsibility for around 20 staff, but further hires, including internal comms officers and press officers, are likely to be made over the next few weeks.
Last summer, Verve Communications was called in to advise on a departmental shake-up (PRWeek, 15 July 2005).
