College Hill lures ex-Tory comms chief Baverstock

Paul Baverstock, the Conservative Party’s former director of strategic comms, has landed a job at City PR firm College Hill Associates.

Baverstock, who took on the role three weeks ago, would only say that his brief was ‘specialising in corporate and public affairs work’ in the agency’s corporate team. He reports to executive chairman Alex Sandberg.

His arrival comes hard on the heels of College Hill’s capture of Richard Nichols, who was CEO of marcoms holding company Incepta before its acquisition by Huntsworth.

Nichols has been brought in to lead College Hill’s expansion into environmental consulting, crisis management and PA (PRWeek, 19 May).

Baverstock oversaw comms at Conservative Central Office under ex-leader Iain Duncan Smith. He joined Ketchum in early 2004 as MD of corporate, but left last year, working next on Kenneth Clarke’s doomed leadership campaign (PRWeek, 9 September 2005).
