RNID's campaign supremo to leave

The National Deaf Children’s Society has taken on the RNID’s head of campaigns as its new head of communications.

Chris Underwood joins on 5 June after four years at the RNID. He takes charge of a five- strong team, replacing Sarah Etwell, who joined Breakthrough Breast Cancer in April after two years.

One of Underwood’s first tasks will be to raise the profile of the society’s brand. The charity is also looking to increase its influence on policy-makers, and promote awareness of the issues around childhood deafness in the UK and abroad.

Underwood reports to director of fundraising and comms Tobin Aldrich.

During his time at the RNID, Underwood spearheaded a number of high-profile  campaigns, including the ‘access to employment’ and ‘access to health for deaf people’ programmes.

The RNID is looking for a replacement.
