HSE bids to cut workplace falls

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has brought in GCI to handle a campaign to reduce injuries from falls below head-height in the workplace.

The drive targets tradesmen and recommends how to use tools safely.

It also warns of common distractions that can lead to accidents, such as answering a mobile phone call or text message while working.

‘We are targeting SMEs and sole traders by working with tool-hire companies, trade associations and local authorities, which are helping to promote our message,’ said GCI group account director Steve Parker.

The campaign was designed around research by Survey Shop.

The pitch was handled by the Central Office of Information. Regional press work is being handled by the Government News Network.
