Cheshire in knife amnesty appeal

Cheshire Police has begun a crackdown on violent street crime with a knife amnesty.

Targeting local press and broadcasters, the police are asking residents to hand in blades that may be ‘lying around’ their houses.

The amnesty concerns specialist, sporting and dangerous knives.

‘You would be surprised at the number of knives lying around, including samurai swords, combat and butterfly knives,’ said Cheshire Police PRO Jane Gregory.

Cheshire recorded more than 700 knife-related incidents last year.
